The person who went me the PSAL B preview has asked me to take off the numbers before the team names because he never meant for it to be looked at as actual rankings.

A PSAL "B" preview has been added to the bottom of the PSAL Preview page.  This report was provided by a source who wishes to remain nameless.

Any Varsity coaches at Elementary schools looking at this site please feel free to send me your schedules, because I would to see as many 8th graders play as possible before they get to high school.  Also any Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity coaches at the High School level looking at the site I would also like for you to send a copy of your schedule. Email me
Daon Merrit (5'8 PG) of St. Raymond will likely be out until the 3rd week of December so he probably will not be back until St. Ray's Christmas tournaments.  This is the same for 2 All Hallows players,  Rashawn Vaughn (5'10 PG) and Leon Fuller (6'6 PF)

From Jim Fox:
I very much enjoy your website and would like to provide some information.
LONG ISLAND LIGHTNING - We are very proud of our entire AAU organization which I believe is one of the largest in the entire country (a total of 42 boys and girls teams this past year). We enjoyed a great deal of success this past season and in particular, we were very proud of our 17U Boys team who competed throughout the country in many of the top tournaments. They won their pool in both of Charlie Weber's Tournaments and reached the finals in Wayne Simone's CT. Fall tournament. They also went 4-2 in the AAU Nationals in Orlando during July. Four players from this team have already decided where they will be playing college basketball: Anthony Lopiano -- Samford University Mike Grinnon -- University of Maryland Jim Bebry -- Trinity College Tom Feminella -- LeMoyne College In addition to running the Lightning AAU Club, I also am one of the owners of Island Garden in West Hempstead. We will be hosting a High School Christmas Tournament this year which may be of interest to you. The schedule is as follows:
Wed. 12/27 --- 12pm Carey vs. Elk Hill (California) GIRLS --- 1:45pm Sunny Hills (California) vs. St. John's Prep BOYS --- 3:30pm Van Buren vs. Syosset BOYS Thurs. 12/28 --- 12pm Elk Grove (California) vs. Longwood GIRLS --- 1:45pm BOYS SEMI-FINALS LOSERS --- 3:30pm BOYS SEMI-FINALS WINNERS Sat. 12/30 ADDITIONAL GAMES 12pm --- Elk Grove vs. Jericho GIRLS 1:30pm --- Hempstead vs. Sunny Hills BOYS

Weschester Report by Matt Grasso and I have added 2 team previews.
Yesterday I went to the St. Raymond Xaverian scrimmage.  I got to the game late because I had a prior engagement when I arrived to the game it was the end of the 3rd quarter, which Xaverain won.  Xaverian would win 2 of the remaining 3 quarters as well.  Chris Taft played very good down low for Xaverian and showed he is a special talent.  Xaverian also shot well from behind the arc.  If Xaverian continues to play this well during the season they will challenge for the CHSAA title despite not having Shaheen McNair for the entire season.  McNair was declared ineligible several weeks ago.  Julius Hodge and Chris McRae played good for St. Ray's, but it was obvious they missed Daon Merrit and Elijah Muldruw who were out with injuries.

I have found out that freshman Terrance Portis is not at Robeson but he is at Xaverian and sophomore Quami Moore is no longer at Transit Tech and has returned to Lincoln.

There was a glitch in the poll so I had to reset it, if you have already voted please vote again.
This weekend I want to attend as many scrimmage games as possible, so please, if you know of any games let me know (by email)who is playing, where, what day and what time.  On Saturday I cannot be at any games until 2pm because I will be at the Xaverian @ St. Ray's game which starts at 11am for anyone that is interested in going.

Last Thursday Clinton star Anthony Lalor committed to George Washington.  Lalor is still raw offensively but he is one of the best defensive players in the city.  He has the ability to block shots and takes charges, he is also an excellent rebounder.  His offensive game will have time to improve at George Washington which will make him a much more complete player.

A couple of committments have occured in the surrounding areas of New York City.  Mike Grinnon of St. Dominic in Long Island has committed to Maryland and Markus Austin of White Plains High School has committed to    Eastern Michigan.  Both players are expected to have big seasons for their respective schools.11/7
Junior Rankings updated
Wendell Gibson has narrowed his choices of schools to Hofstra and George Mason.  I have heard that Gibson will end up at Hofstra.  This means Hofstra will get 2 of the 5 best players in the 2001 class out of the city.  Hofstra received a commitment from Chris McRae a couple of weeks ago.  Gibson who has greatly improved and in the American East Conference he should do well.

After months of speculation Julius Hodge finally made his decision, and he decided for the NBA.  Well at least thats what he said at first before saying he was just kidding.  HIs actual choice was North Carolina State.  I felt he was going to be a member of the Wolfpack ever since High Major Hoops did a story on ALan Ray and he said Julius liked Florida a lot.  When I asked him about that he said "too bad they don't know the truth".  Since I knew people were telling him not to go to Syracuse and I never felt Maryland was in the race I knew the school that was 3rd or 4th not too long ago was now his favorite.  He will immediately start at NC St. and will be able to compete against the team that chose a player over him.  Now that this is out of the way he can focus on tyring to lead St. Ray's to a second straight City Championship.
