Story on the New York Ravens

Loughlin's 71-61 loss to Rice has turned out to be Bob Leckie's last game as coach at Loughlin.  He has accepted the job at St. Peters College.
Last night at the McDonald's All-American game all 3 city point guards played good.  Omar Cook had 8 points and 3 assists but could've had more assists if his teammates didn't try to turn easy shots into difficult shots but he shot terribly goin 0-6 from 3.  Taliek Brown had 11 points and 4 assists proving that if he was surrounded by talent in high school he would've put up much bigger numbers than what he did.  Andre Barrett had 8 points and 12 assists, which fell 1 assist shy of tying the game's record of 13.

Andre Barrett has been named Rivals NY State player of the year over Peter Mulligan.  I don't understand how he won the award over Peter considering Pete led the CHSAA in scoring and averaged 10 boards a game.  Not to take anything away from Barrett (who had an excellent season 18 points 9 assists a game) but I feel Peter was more deserving of the award.

Andre Sweet has officially announced that he will be attending Duke in the fall for.  He says he choose Duke over Clemson and Tennessee becuase Duke is not only a great basketball program but is one of the top school in the nation academically.  He feels he has the chance to get some minutes as freshman next year which played another role in going to Duke.

Omar Cook has been suspended by the CHSAA for 2 games.  In order for him to play again CK will have to make the semis.  And without the Brooklyn/Queens MVP that may be impossible.
Both Darnell Miller (STORY) and Andre Sweet (STORY) gave verbal commitments this past week.  Miller to George Washington and Sweet to Duke.
My thoughts about Sweet going to Duke is as follows: I was hoping he went to either Tennesse, Boston College or Clemson  because at Duke he won't be able to get significant playing time until his junior season there.  But at the other three he would've got plenty of minutes his freshman year and probably could've started next year at those two.   Sweet is too good of a player to sit on the bench.  I'm happy for Darnell because he is a good player that doesn't make  stupid mistakes and I wasn't sure if he was getting any looks.  Playing with Sirvaliant Brown he could lead GW in assists coming off the bench.
Congratulations to Molloy for getting there 1500 win in school history on Sunday with a 55-51 win over Xaverian.
